CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Framed Woodland Design

Memories of childhood  vacations foraging in the forests of Switzerland led Françoise to innovate her trademark Woodland Texture design. her home base in the Pacific Northwest provides ample inspiration and material for creative botanical sculpture Françoise shares her passion for keenly observing nature along with deeply honed architectural skills. You will learn how to see, source, scale and shape natural works of art. Françoise will impart the detail that goes into utilizing, bark, branches, mosses, mushrooms, seed pods and berries in rich and textural compositions.

Françoise will show you her methods for deconstructing plant materials such as evergreen cones, succulents and ferns. Tools to find your own vision and local bounty will be emphasized during this exhilarating, hands-on studio time.

Kokedama

Kokedama is a centuries old Japanese art. The name literally translates from Koke, meaning moss and dama, meaning ball. The technique recreates a unique habitat where nature and art blend intimately together allowing gardeners to turn plants into living sculptures. The process of creating Kokedama provides a very tactile experience. Many say it is both soothing and calming, but most of all it is just such fun! It allows the creator an opportunity to get their hands dirty in the most wonderful way. The results are a plant within its own world that is a delight to behold.

In this class, you will create your Kokedama Moss Ball. We will also discuss some tips for care of and handling your completed Kokedama.

Coastal/Woodland Centerpieces

Create a beautiful table centerpiece using gatherings of Northwest materials. Driftwood bark, moss, plants, shells, and fresh florals are just a few of the materials available. You will make a one-of-a-kind design inspired by the beauty of the island, woodlands, and beaches of the Pacific Northwest. The Pacific Northwest is blessed with incredible natural beauty. From beaches, woodlands, fields, and farmland, much of this beauty is represented in our work.

This class will incorporate the bounty of the NW area. Using a compilation of gathered natural materials such as woodland textures and beach treasures along with plants and fresh cut florals you will create a one -of- a -kind table centerpiece. Rebecca will also show ways your centerpiece can be refreshed for multiple uses and occasions.

Botanical Jewelry

Botanical materials have all the sparkle, movement and gesture of gems and metals. Learn to innovate jewelry design using wire as a base for rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Piece together the tiny and often overlooked bits of texture occurring in seed pods, tendrils, succulents, herbs and tropical greenhouse favorites. These adornments stun at galas, weddings and on the catwalk.
